How to Create a WiFi QR Code

1
Enter your network name (SSID)

Type the name of your WiFi network exactly as it appears — case-sensitive. Find it in your phone's WiFi settings or on your router's label.

2
Enter your WiFi password

Type your current password. It is processed entirely in your browser — never sent anywhere. For a guest network, use the guest password.

3
Select the security type

Choose WPA for virtually all modern routers (covers WPA, WPA2, WPA3). Select WEP only for very old routers. Select "No password" for open networks.

4
Download and print

Download the PNG. Print on laminated table cards, put in a frame near your router, or attach to your menu. Guests scan once and connect automatically.

Restaurant and café setup

Create a dedicated guest WiFi with a memorable password and generate a QR for it. Print one per table. Your main network password stays private while guests get instant internet access.

Home and Airbnb setup

Print a small card with your WiFi QR and put it on the fridge or welcome board. Guests scan on arrival and connect instantly. No more WhatsApp messages asking for the password.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a WiFi QR code work?
A WiFi QR code encodes your network name (SSID), password, and security type in a standard WIFI: format. When scanned by a smartphone camera, the phone reads the credentials and prompts the user to connect. No typing required.
Is my WiFi password safe in this tool?
Yes. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your password never leaves your device — it is not sent to any server, not stored, and not logged. You can verify this by disconnecting from the internet and the tool still works.
Which security types are supported?
WPA/WPA2/WPA3 (select WPA — covers all three generations), WEP (legacy), and open networks (no password). WPA is the correct choice for virtually all modern home and business routers.
Which devices can scan WiFi QR codes?
iPhones running iOS 11 and above can scan WiFi QR codes using the default Camera app. Android devices running Android 10 and above support this natively. Many Android phones (Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, etc.) on Android 9 also support it through their camera app. Older devices may need a third-party QR scanner app.
Can I share my QR code so guests scan it from a phone screen?
Yes. You can display the QR code on your phone or tablet screen and others can scan it with their device. The QR does not need to be printed — it works from any display surface.
How do I display the WiFi QR code in my restaurant or hotel?
Download the PNG and print on laminated table cards, place on the check-in desk, include in the welcome folder, or stick on the door/window. For a professional print, use our full QR Code Generator to download SVG, which scales to any size without pixelation.
What is a "hidden network" and should I enable it?
A hidden network does not broadcast its SSID. Most home and business networks are visible (not hidden). Only enable the "Hidden network" option if you specifically configured your router to hide the SSID. For most users, leave it unchecked.
Can I use this for a guest WiFi network?
Absolutely. This is the most popular use case. Create a separate guest WiFi on your router, generate a QR code with the guest password, and print it at your counter or table. Guests never need to ask for the main network password.
What happens if I change my WiFi password?
The QR code encodes the old password. You will need to generate a new QR code with the updated password and reprint. For frequently changing passwords, consider using a guest network with a stable password specifically for QR printing.
Can I customise the color of my WiFi QR code?
The dedicated WiFi QR tool uses a clean default style. For custom colors, dot styles, a logo, or a frame with "Scan for WiFi" text, use our main QR Code Generator (/qr-code-generator) and enter your WiFi credentials there — it has a dedicated WiFi type with the same credential fields.
Does the QR code contain my full password?
Yes, the password is embedded in the QR code. Anyone who scans the QR code can read the password — that is the entire point. Only share or display the QR code in contexts where you are comfortable with guests connecting, just as you would tell them the password verbally.
